Buffalo, NY – One potential candidate for the newly carved 28th congressional district has bowed out.
Assemblyman Sam Hoyt announced Monday he will not enter the race for a seat in the district now held by John LaFalce.
Hoyt said last week he was considering a run for the Democratic nomination following John LaFalce's announced retirement.
In declining the congressional run, Hoyt cited the geographical difficulties - and high campaign costs - associated with running for the new congressional seat, which will include portions of Erie, Niagara and Monroe counties.
But Hoyt said he will run for Mayor of Buffalo in 2005.
Senator Byron Brown and Erie County Legislator Chuck Swanick are still weighing a posssible run.
