Buffalo, NY – State Supreme Court officials in Buffalo say Judge Michael D'Amico will preside over the James Kopp murder trial.
Kopp is accused in the 1998 shooting death of Dr. Barnett Slepian. Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark says he's pleased with the selection of Justice D'Amico.
"My reaction is very positive," Clark said. "He's an experienced judge who has shown an ability to handle complicated legal cases."
Kopp has pleaded not guilty to second degree state murder charges.
