Lockport, NY – Bloomberg Business News says Delphi Corporation plans to cut 6,100 jobs worldwide.
Delphi announced a first-quarter loss of $51 million, or nine-cents a share. The job eliminations, some of which were previously announced, are part of a restructuring that will result in an after-tax cost of $174 million, the company said.
The job cuts will take place at 25 sites in the U.S. and Europe.
A spokesman for the Delphi Harrison plant says the Lockport plant will not be affected by the layoffs.
