Buffalo, NY – Kaleida Health announced Monday it has been granted accreditation for the next three years by a national organization that sets standards for health care.
A survey team from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations spent the past week looking over Kaleida's facilities and programs. The surveyors found the system meets standards for patient safety and quality care.
Kaleida's Vice President of Quality and Planning C.J. Urlaub said the accreditation is important.
"Typically, health systems need to Joint Commission accreditation to continue their work with teaching programs as well as with such programs as Medicare and Medicaid," Urlaub said.
Urlaub said it's a valuable exercise to have an outside group assess the system's strengths and weaknesses.
