From Diane O'Donnel:
Here are some of the main reasons Why I choose to live in Buffalo:
- The People - Next to Chicago, Buffalo has the friendliest, warm hearted group of people living here in the entire United States. I travel extensively, and it is so great to come home, say "Hi" to each and everyone of the walkers going around Delaware Park every morning, knowing my mailman, dry cleaner, corner grocer by name and having courteous drivers who will give you a break!
- The Restaurants - Buffalo has some "jewels" Even though I am 40 weeks on the road, it is always a treat to go to Hutch's - say hi to Patrick, eat at Tsunami and give a kiss to Mike, and Tempo, well with Mr. Jenkins there,,,,you just cant imagine that you are not in Italy!
- The Theater -ICTC, Shakespeare in the Park, Shaw Festival, are just a few of the world class theater sitting at our doorstep... and you can get tickets for 1/4 of what you would pay in NYC!
- The Architecture - We live in a beautiful town (without a real waterfront - politicians need to see Chicago and Milwaukee) with history and beauty and we are a stone's throw from quaint towns like Lewiston, Ellicottville, Niagara on the Lake and near a huge city Toronto.
- The Arts - Albright Knox art gallery - is amazing, with all the galleries in Tri Main and the entire area we have allot to discover.
- The Traffic - I would rather drive in Buffalo, or the suburbs any given day....than Detroit, New Jersey,Chicago suburbs, Long Island or Manhattan. Transit at rush hour is a walk in the park in comparison!
- The Landscape - Niagara Falls 15 minutes, Letchworth State Park 90 minutes, Allegheny 120 minutes, and Lake Erie 5 minutes - you can see beautiful water and mountains in a short drive.
- The Weather - As I defend this great city in my travels with "why do you want to live in BUFFALO?" repeatedly ask of me...9 months we have great weather, national media always says it snows in BUFFALO when it is snowing in Ellicottville!! It is snowing in the ski region where it should!
- The Cost - Last but not least, it is so inexpensive and easy to live here. Find a house with a garage, two fireplaces 3 bedrooms, cove molding, sunroom at the low cost of $129,000 in a major city...you can't.
