About Kara Sweet

Kara SweetKara Sweet joined the WBFO staff in April 2000 as a Membership Assistant. She has served as WBFO's Manager of Electronic Communications and Underwriting Sales Consultant since January 2004 and as Director of Digital Media since July of 2009.

Kara has a wide array of duties at WBFO, many of which are digitally-focused. She designs and develops the WBFO web site, creates weekly email newsletters, and manages WBFO's podcasts, photo galleries, and online ticket giveaways. She also does print and online graphic design for WBFO.

A key implementer of WBFO's Community Partnership Program (started in 2002), Kara continues to help increase WBFO's presence in the community through sponsorship of local cultural events. She sells underwriting on a part-time basis, her main focus being non-profits. Kara received her BA in English at UB. Before pursuing her love of reading and writing, she was fulfilling her passion for music as a Music Theory and Piano Performance major at SUNY Fredonia.

Kara is also a freelance web designer, with particular focus on locally-owned businesses and non-profit organizations in the Buffalo-Niagara area, such as Betty's, Shakespeare in Delaware Park, and the Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts.

She serves on the Board of Directors for the University at Buffalo Child Care Center and the Pet Emergency Fund, and is on the Children's Concert Committee for the Kenmore Village Improvement Society.

Kara lives in Kenmore with her husband Jonathan, their two children, Zoe and Zachary, dog Ozzy, and cat Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
