This week's photo was taken by Lawrence Rowswell.
"I took this picture of my dad some eight or ten years ago during a weekend we spent at Hilltop Estate near Bolivar, NY. We had gone on a hike, and I had taken along my camera with B&W film in it, thinking to take some landscape pics. As we stopped to rest, I was taken with the way the sunlight streaming through his straw hat cast a speckled light on his face, so I asked him to pose for a picture. Looking at it now, the speckled light is interesting, but it is the expressiveness in my father's eyes that makes the portrait."
